Rudi better stay in the US and pursue your happiness. Germany is doomed. Governments are unorganized and unresponsible. People are frightened and give up their freedom. The media is governed by cleptocratic moralists. Crazy policies like energy, EMU and health prevent economic development. The cities are ruled by criminal clans. ...
The United States, on the other hand, is in tip-top shape!

The US had a way better economic development in the last decade than the europoors, thanks to Merkel and EU bureaucracy.

Was dagegen spricht, überhaupt irgendwelche Ökonomen als vermeintliche Experten heranzuziehen. Wahrscheinlich ist sogar würfeln besser.

Macht niemand.
How is Mannheim to spend five years?
A like the city a lot. It has the right size (at least for me, I don't like cities like Berlin, Paris etc.). The population is relatively young and it has a high student/population ratio. Additionally, among the larger German cities, Mannheim is wealthy and there do not live a lot of poor people. So there is no problem with homeless people like in Berlin or parts of Cologne or Hamburg.

You are talking about Karlsruhe?
FTFY: The city has less than a 1:10 student/population ratio, is not wealthy and a lot of poor and/or drug-addicted people live there.
One can still enjoy living there a great deal, but do not expect a wealthy youth-driven medium sized city like Freiburg, Nürnberg or Heidelberg.

I do not disagree since I do not know these cities. Maybe I should have mentioned to which cities I was drawing the comparison. However, I think we can agree on the fact that there are a lot of German cities that are worse places to live for five years.
Definitely true in a German-wide comparison. Thinking about cities with > 100,000 population in BW, BY and RP, however, Mannheim might be in the lower quartile.
