Really interesting that KK (Mainz) is in the ranking with 0.5 points if you select SJR weights A+ only. And then when you look at her CV you only see a co-authored *AER* (hint it's a P&P).

I find it interesting how many names I do not know. In the the under 40 list: place 6, place 14, 18, 21, 29, 32, 38, 43.
This is certainly just my ignorance, but if I google these mystery scientists it appears that they do not publish in journals with "economic" in its title but are more focused on political science or psychology.
Will there be an option to sort for economists on the website?Place 14 has JPE, AER, Econometrica, JEER… you probably should google better

So, for an econometrician, you don't consider Journal of Econometrics? This does not make much sense in my point of view.
Of you can, just go to the 2019 ranking and apply that filter. Maybe once they update the website one can do all those things.
That (A/A+) is the ranking that I and many others I talk to use for evaluating people relatively for tenure, promotion, hiring, etc. It matters only at the margin if at all, but if I have to use a ranking that's what I'll be using. -
True, there are several mis-categorizations both ways, JIE, JET, JDE, JoE, and maybe a few others like AEJ-Micro and RED should be A.
While IMF Ec Rev, Management Science, Rev of Corp Fin Studies, review of Environ, econ, Economic Policy, World Bank research Observer, Journal of Financial Intermediation, etc. should be B (they are A!!)So, for an econometrician, you don't consider Journal of Econometrics? I think we now know where f2aa publishes.

Not at all, although I see why you may say that. It is just the categorization we use at my department and seems standard to me.
If anyone wants to argue instead that World Bank Research Observer > JDE or IMF Economic Review > JIE, well be my guest.True, there are several mis-categorizations both ways, JIE, JET, JDE, JoE, and maybe a few others like AEJ-Micro and RED should be A.

You cannot seriously argue that 3 publications in an A+ are comparable to two publicaions in an A plus one publication in B-. GH has only one publication in B++ but those three publications in A+ and even one in A++, so that ZW with his two publications in A and just one publication in B- is hardly comparable. LQ is a different story. Also, the distance between A and A+ is much smaller than between A+ and A++.

I wish I could follow you on either your liberal use of initials, or your adamant certainty and knowledge about what exactly constitutes A++, A-, B++...

GTFO sociologist - you should at least have visited an ECON 101 at a German university, where these things are discussed in all detail.

Did I miscount or is there a grand total of 2 females among the 50 under 40?
https://www.handelsblatt.com/downloads/27644894/2/hb_vwl_ranking_2021.pd (if you put .pdf it doesn't work...)
Possibly that would change if there were age adjustments for parental leave. This is currently not the case.

Neither of which is in DACH, currently (Carolin Pfl. is in Chicago, and #50, Jeanne H., is French and at sciences Po).
Still, I wonder where other people are. Shouldn't PP (Cologne) be in that list at least? PhD 2013. Is she older than 40?

For sure parental leaves explain all the differences.
As you can see from the 2019 ranking
https://forschungsmonitoring.org/ranking/vwl/young (2019 ranking, but 2021 age),
the majority of people have now turned 40 or 41. A year more or less (or 2 or 3 depending on the number of children) is likely to make a difference.
