Why is German macro so weak? In micro and public economics, even Germans based at German universities can compete with the best in the world. But in macro, I don't see anyone. Where are the 35-45 age old researchers that should be at the peak of their skills?Bayer, Kuhn, Adam, Schularick, Tertilt, NFS, Wiederholt ARE competing with the best in the world. Who in public is that good, relatively speaking?
