Why is Homburg the most successful German economist on Twitter? According to Twitter Rankings (retweets, followers) even the successful Rudi is only a Leichtgewicht compared to him. Homburg will be probably one of the most influential Economists in the prestigious Econ Influencer rankings (e.g. FAZ)

Insider here: Yes, he may have taken a wrong turn by now. But does this poisonous tone have to be here? Homburg was an extraordinary economist, he used to be a real prodigy. Anyone who met him a few decades ago can testify to that. Unfortunately, when he left Bonn as a young and highly esteemed economist, his star began to decline, I guess. Nevertheless, no reason to be so abusive here.

The problem is that Hannover intellectually is "pampa" as much as Notre Dame.
Achieving everything in Germany really does not count for much internationally.
Being the biggest fish in a smallish pond is not that impressive.
Besides, even by German standards SH did not exactly make a name for himself. He fizzled out early in life before starting his academic career. Rudi may be a mediocre economist, but at least he is an economist.
