EJMR often jokes about consulting while being a professor but it used to be the norm for german professors to have lucrative non-academic jobs and doing the minimum work as a professor to net get fired.

Insider here: Yes, he may have taken a wrong turn by now. But does this poisonous tone have to be here? Homburg was an extraordinary economist, he used to be a real prodigy. Anyone who met him a few decades ago can testify to that. Unfortunately, when he left Bonn as a young and highly esteemed economist, his star began to decline, I guess. Nevertheless, no reason to be so abusive here.
