Everybody is leaving the T_rd Island.
Thiemo to Bonn, I think.Yes, he publicly announced the news on Twitter.
Überrascht?Turns out Maja Goepel used a ghost writer for her book. Curious timing that this comes out. Doesn't bode well for DIW appointment.
Und auch noch das:

Das ist ja eigentlich immer so. Die Gschaftlhuber arbeiten nicht ordentlich.
I had a look at MH's CV and I am shocked that he got a W3 in Freiburg. I don't know the guy personally, and I am sure he's a great colleague and all, but after several VAP positions and only one JET as a top journal pub, I have no idea how he managed to get W3.
How did then MW from Würzburg/Kiel get 3 Rüfe with 2 JAE as top pubs? Doesn't add up...

After Rudi had declined the Ruf, they could only lose out anyway. Deal with it.

Well, they tell you it is about top pubs but just because you don't have any.

And it was not only Rudi who declined, also someone from the Fed. Its not that they did not try...

so they can't get Rudi and the next step is to reach in the toilet? reeks of nepotism
Naming a hiring of someone "reaching in the toilet" reeks of cyber mobbing of 14-year old haters. It is much better to hire someone like MH than people like you. Have you ever thought that your toxic behavior might be the reason why you don't get hired?

dude, wtf is wrong with you? let me guess, you're an early-year phd student who KNOWS that he will never publish anything below an EJ?
anybody who has ever been on any hiring committee knows that there is a significant random/luck component involved. sure, if you have several top 5s, you will usually get invited and make it to the list, but for all the others, idiosyncracies are huge.
i don't doubt that there is a lot of nepotism in german academia, but putting someone with a very decent cv, who is almost guaranteed to come and for whose qualities as a teacher and colleague you have inside knowledge on a list that otherwise goes for more risky us-based candidates doesn't reek of it at all. freiburg had troubles in the past filling their slots (how long was econometrics vacant?), this time it worked. congrats to both.
Agree
