Getting a good industry job is now more competitive than getting into HRM grad

Based on the quality of this reply, I take it you are unemployed.
The avg google employee couldnt even get into a top 100 PhD program.
are you talking about ad sales and admin? I think you're right.
If SWE, Google has a 0.2% offer rate. The vast majority of HRM STEM PhDs would have no shot. -

If by now you mean these last three months, sure. But if you take the average across any reasonable time period, hell no.
Amazon had a recruitment talk in my school when I was a PhD student. They basically said "Let's keep in touch, even if you prefer to stay in academia, if things go awry we would like to hire you"

Amazon hires people who went to U. Tennessee Evening MBA and rejects people who went to Harvard Business School. It's about interview performance which is something you can't predict with certainty.

I see you continue to embarrass yourself on ejmr, everyday.

Amazon/Uber/Facebook/Consulting Firms have been hiring the bottom students of the top schools for years. Just look at placements

Amazon had a recruitment talk in my school when I was a PhD student. They basically said "Let's keep in touch, even if you prefer to stay in academia, if things go awry we would like to hire you"Lol. I spoke with someone senior at a central bank and they told me the same thing. When I actually sent the email to apply, I received no response. When I applied through the standard online application system, I was filtered by the personality test.

Industry jobs are absolutely soul crushing. Before starting you picture yourself as the genius who comes in and trebles profits with your clever machine learning model. But in reality you will just be another cog in the wheel working on uninteresting problems 9-7 in an open plan office. Even if you do good work, some MBA 'jeet will take credit for it and fire you at the first opportunity. Be careful what you wish for.

Academia is worse. Teaching ungrateful entitled students while producing meaningless research with a million silly robustness checks no one will ever read. The truth is, life sucks.

It's easier to get into Amazon than Goldman IB coming out an MBA program, sure. But if you stagnate at Goldman and want to lateral into Amazon 5 years post MBA, they'll downlevel you to a new graduate.
Same thing with a PhD. Very difficult to break in later and you'll have to give up years of seniority.
Not sure if this is true at Meta, but probably is. Not many economists work at Meta.

Again, I saw many of my colleagues who could not get an academic job going there with little effort. Some didn't even really know how to code.
Just look at placements from MHSPBY

You're a clown. You think there is anything you can do to "treble profits"? All these companies were world class before you got there. They don't care if you get hit by a bus. Probably a good thing, they can reduce headcount by one.

Let the kiddies on ejmr think they're special for at least an hour.
