3-3 is nothing.
I teach 5-5 outside US with 100k.
Only 2 Scopus indexed journals every 5 years
But it is a good living in a country where the minimum wage is 5k per yearTeaching a course in Indonesia is not same as teaching a course in the US. For example, number of teaching hours per course may differ. Therefore comparing US 3-3 to Indonesia 5-5 is meaningless without further details.
I agree - in most of Indonesian Unis. But our school adopts US curriculum and textbooks - because our senior faculties and administrators got PhD from (mostly) US schools such as: UC Berkeley, USC, UIUC, Texas A&M, Indiana Bloomington, U o Oregon, U o Arkansas, U o Michigan, U o Houston, Wharton. So I can say roughly the same - perhaps students behavior are different.
US curriculum and textbooks does not imply US teaching hours.

At this point, get your tenure at the teaching school and pick up extra remote work. There is very little incentive to start over from zero as a green AP for a 20-30% pay hike.

How well I understand you, my parents told me about it, it's been a long time since my parents finished college, they told me it was very hard (probably because times were harder than now), especially since they realized they didn't like what they were doing. I’ve move up twice, from a 4-4 (pay ~105) to a 3-2 (pay ~ 150) and then to a 2-2 (pay 200+some summer). It took 8 years and so much work to make the moves and I’m still not successful by most standards. No one knows me or this school and my income is not impressive. Had I spent the time and energy for moving up on any thing else (whatever, flipping cars or selling crap on amazon), I would be richer and more successful. Doors are closed in academia. If you’re ambitious but placed in a teaching, look for opportunities outside of academia. Meanwhile, do the minimum and collect the academic paycheck.
