Moreover, I find verbal reasoning very similar to econometrics. Does anyone have a reasonable explanation? You’re schizophrenic?
I am 100% sure I am not because I have seen how my father acts and behaves. He was schizophrenic.

That's exactly what a schizo would say!
I think the main reason the verbal score is discounted by economists is because many on the admission committee would be ex or current aspies with poor verbal skills.
People like to replace themselves with people are are like themselves. Someone with a high verbal score would intimidate many.

It's discounted by everybody. Basically English language skills have been a waste of time and effort in the jerb markets of the last 25 years.
Except, English skills are hugely important for selling crap research to top journals and conferences.

But it is not purely a test of English.
"Intensive preparation for the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) actually changes the microscopic structure of the brain, physically bolstering the connections between areas of the brain important for reasoning, according to neuroscientists at the University of California, Berkeley."
While GRE verbal is probably 5 times easier than LSAT, the principle is the same. Quant and Verbal measure different things, which is why I find the obsessive focus on quant hard to explain.
I actually agree with you OP. I'm a 99% on verbal reasoning tests, meh on quant tests, and I've published well enough with not much work to be a tenured prof at a low stress, but decent LRM place. I also did well in real analysis, which in many ways has more in common with verbal reasoning than quant. All you need for (at least moderate) success is judgment, decent reasoning/logic, work and most importantly luck.
I disagree, GRE verbal is just a vocabulary test.

So patently false that I wonder if you have any experience with the test beyond a single sitting.
