Let's ignore the one trying to deflect the thread, otherwise he/she/it will be successful in doing so.
I wonder if there is anything that could be done about this?
I doubt this kind of thing is exclusive to history. How many other fields are compromised?

I haven't been following this, but if he really did commit plagiarism he should be fired.

History is a real field. The woke are slowly hollowing it out (see "social history") but have not completely done so.

History is less fake than much of the social sciences.

Nah. Most history is very we/ak and is never replicated.
