Cape Town is great. There are dangerous areas but if you use common sense you'll be fine. Also, yes, there are lots of white people.

Very diverse and cool. The largest group are neither whites nor blacks, but the multi-racial "coloureds," whose African ancesters were mostly Khiokhoi, not Bantu blacks. They speak Afrikaans and have their own very distinctive identity.
