I literally learned about that here, even though it’s at best marginally relevant to the Econ job market (don’t know if Google hires a lot of economists). I bought the book on the Ed Snowden leaks years ago because I wanted to support the cause of exposing mass surveillance, and also learn about it. It would appear to me that mass manipulation, which the video alleges to, should be an even bigger concern, no? Maybe the allegations are false - why are we not having an open debate on this and keep it buried in the murky corners of the internet instead?
How is the Google Veritas leak not a big topic in the news?

How about you google the history of Project Veritas before trusting any of their so-called "exposés"?

Lol use google to research Project Veritas, an organization that has criticized Google?
Are you even an academic?

Only willfully gullible morons fall for the silly "edited videos" crap.
Veritas released every second of their planned parenthood videos and a federal court ruled they were not deceptive.
PP sells baby parts. Read up on that.

“O'Keefe and Giles came in, pretended to be a pimp and prostitute, and asked for help smuggling underage girls across the Mexican border. In the ACORN videos, it appears that Vera is willing to be an accomplice in the made up smuggling plot. O'Keefe may well have thought so at the time. According to the California Attorney General's investigation, however, Vera didn't know what to make of the pair at first, tried to elicit as much information as possible from them so that he could contact law enforcement, and called his cousin, a police officer, as soon as they left. Phone records confirm the call to his cousin, and Vera was soon directed to a San Diego police officer who specializes in human smuggling. He spoke to that police officer too. As Vera was cooperating with police, the ACORN sting videos began to appear, portraying him as a willing child smuggler. He was fired from ACORN during the PR fallout, and has since filed a lawsuit against O'Keefe and Giles.“
I wonder why O’Keefe hasn’t cleared this up?

I’ve seen this argument before. Yet veritas has won every single defamation and libel suit. So in a Court of law they have been deemed reliable. Yes videos are edited for time, like every other interview and news piece, but they’ve already been deemed that their content is factual in a court of law.
