   Don't really get why people CHOOSE to be delusional! Most FMA schools don't pay summer support but rather you get extra for summer teaching. If they do then it's probably 5k to 10k. 2/9 is for AFA schools.

   I am from one of the fly-over flagships. We pay comfortably over $200K, we give 2/9. And - our main market is FMA. Do we sometimes go to AFA? Yes we do - but often we find motivated, hard-working, and eventually well-publishing JMCs at the FMA. I know a good number of similar schools that have the same approach to recruiting...

   Over the last X years, I see more advisors from "traditional AFA schools" sending their students to the FMA. Forcing the JMCs to stay at home "because our students do not look for jobs at the FMA" is, frankly, a pretty bonehead strategy, especially in post-COVID times.

   At the other end, Concordia pays minimum 121,726 CAD (81946 base +39780 market supplement + ? individual supplement, =~96K USD) for 2/2.

   Seems like the salary can stretch a bit given the cost of the city but still low.

   Do you require 2A's (Top 4)? If that's the case then see the bands that was proposed before. 150K is near the top for a 3-3 school.

   It's far from being accurate. We pay much higher than the data here. BTW, do you believe that Boston College only pays 125,000?

   You need to read the data correctly before making such stupd statements!

   If I go on FMA only, how likely am I to get job at balanced FMA school (say, 150-200k)? How likely am I to get any job at FMA? I am average JMC from low MRM b-school.

   It is possible, maybe 20-50% chance. If you are really good and under-placed at a 3-3 teaching school, publish some good papers and then go to market every year and eventually will move to a higher-level school.

   When you have the will, there is always a way.

   Just apply selectively 10-15 applications (as there are only 20-25 schools only that fall in your desired category) and you may be able to get it. If your are a rookie then you need a minimum of 1 hit (JCF, JBF, FM, JFR, etc.) and if you are 2-3 years out then you need 3 hits and you are 5-6 years out then you need 5 hits or so. Or somewhat lower journals may suffice if you have excellent teaching evals and have CFA/CFP (a lot of FMA schools what such designations).

   It’s not possible. This year we received double the amount of applicants than an average year. Good pool!
