As is usual, there's huge variation in quality within an institution. Kushner is probably smarter though than many members of Harvard's immense number of sports teams.
Overall prestige? Below Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Princeton, and Yale for sure. Probably behind Berkeley and maybe Chicago. So I'd put it about #8, but could see 6 or 7 also. Unless you're in STEM, in which case Cal Tech is also above it.

There are two types of prestige that you should differentiate between on this forum:
For academics in econ/finance, Columbia is one of those schools that is constantly on the cusp of being or not being HRM, depending on who you ask. That probably tells you more about its prestige among academics than anything else.
For prestige among industry it is no doubt HRM. It is in the league of schools that your individual ability completely dwarfs any prestige effect that you would get from going to a higher ranked school.

Because they are competitive, and whose courses are not taught by adjuncts, such as the Columbia MA in Stats or the MA in Economics.
