   Columbia has been selling degrees as cash cows. Columbia alma mater on the resume is almost worthless now.

   Every degree for which you have to pay full tuition is a cash cow degree...

   I'm surprised people don't think BA degrees are cash cows...

   Because they are competitive, and whose courses are not taught by adjuncts, such as the Columbia MA in Stats or the MA in Economics.

   College admission rates are driven down by unsuspecting college aspirants from all over the country and the world thinking they stand a chance at a HYPC college by having a 3.5 GPA. I doubt the stats MA at Columbia accepts students with a weak undergrad. From what I know, they only accepts Chinese students with prestigious Chinese degrees.

   Overall prestige? Below Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Princeton, and Yale for sure. Probably behind Berkeley and maybe Chicago. So I'd put it about #8, but could see 6 or 7 also. Unless you're in STEM, in which case Cal Tech is also above it.

   Columbia is definitely as prestigious as HYPSM in my country. It's the only university that matches HYPSM in prestige and yet not included in the frat.

   People who think Berkeley is on par with the Ivy Plus are most likely Berkeley students. The inferiority complex of that place is unbelievable.

    Berkeley? You mean that state school with a 30,000 enrollment and 17% acceptance rate? The entire school is basically a cash-cow once you consider the fact that international students are funding the in-state students. They let any international student in.

    Undergraduate admission rates at HYPSM are misleading. My nephew had a 3.2 GPA and 1850/2400 SAT and he applied to HYPC "for the heck of it."

    If you calculated the admit rate of just the people with 3.7-3.8 GPA, it will be the same as most terminal MA programs. The 4-year degree at HYPC is a cash-cow just like any other HYPC program...

Most of them are children of the elite in their countries, and happen to also have perfect grades from their national universities.     The Harvard Extension School has graduated more than 500,000 people since their founding, and continues to award 800 degrees EVERY SINGLE YEAR.

    The average size of a Columbia MA program in the GSAS is about 50 at the most.

    Harvard and Columbia are the go-to choices in American Higher Education for foreign elites. SIPA and HKS alone account for the overwhelming majority of high-ranking leaders in world governments.

    SURE, Yale and Princeton are more prestigious internationally.

    Overall, in science and engineering, I would say Princeton > Columbia > Yale
