If you have to ask this question, out probably aren't going to make it to Columbia. The university is very prestigious and should open a lot of doors for you. You can't really go wrong with Columbia. It's as good as it can get.
No it´s not. Harvard is as good as it gets.

Come on. Columbia is nearly at par with Harvard. There aren't any jobs that you can't get with a Columbia degree that you can with a degree from Harvard/MIT. The differences are marginal, if any. And BTW, as a Columbia grad, I would argue that Stanford and MIT best Harvard today.

I think for the most elite provate equity jobs, you definitely have an edge as an HBS or GSB grad over CBS. Even at KKR which was founded by CBS alum Kravis.
On the other hand, I believe Columbia is the top feeder to Goldman Sachs.
Before the financial crisis, the 3 highest paid people at the firm were Columbia grads
Mark McGoldrick, Raanan Agus and Richard Ruzika

(I used to work at GS but went to another ivy)PE can't be the benchmark for deciding how prestigious a university is. Even then, Columbia grads are dominant in PE jobs (more common than Princeton etc.).

I should hope so. Columbia is much larger than Princeton and also has law and business schools.
But in any case the difference b/w Columbia and Harvard is very unlikely to be the deciding factor on whether someone gets a PE job or not.
