A technical question. How do you get notice of new research published in your field?
Optimally I would like to get notified of every paper which contains at least one of a predefined set of JEL codes in some set of journals. For example, all papers with JEL codes R published in top-5 journals, Journal of Public Economics, RESTAT and JEP.
I'm currently trying to go over the journals websites every once in a while, but there must be a less tedious way.

When I was in grad school back in the 90s, I would go to the library once a month or so and browse through all of the latest journals. This was when we still had paper copies on the shelves in the reference section.
This method was obsolete by 2000 or so once everything had gone digital and libraries no longer bought paper subscriptions. But it was far more efficient and enjoyable. I miss those days, and miss being up on the literature. It was just easier to be well-read when you could do that.

You can get weekly emails with new articles in your list of journals, but more importantly all new papers for your keywords, including working papers.
This. Chose your keywords well, it can be a flood. There is a crazy amount of economics papers on IDEAS.
OP here. Thanks for the replies everyone. I understand that there are no solutions filtering explicitly by JEL codes, but both repec and google scholar alerts have good tools if I'm willing to filter using keywords, and now I just have to find the right ones.
