This is a great loss if your income is above a certain threshold since Pension is evaluate "factor x last salary" whereas Rente is "factor * Average of Min(Beitragsbemessungsgrenze, Salary)" which is substantially lower. As a Beamter you do not pay for your pension, as an Angestellter you do. The threshold is a little higher than the salary of a Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter.</blockquote>
