What happened?He disagrees with the 'protesting during a pandemic is good' narrative. Also, someone found an old blog entry of his were he says that the anthem is not the time and place to kneel. Some well known economists are publicly calling on him to resign as editor of JPE.
PS I don't agree with him on the second thing, but he should be able to say these things!Not as an editor of the JPE. If you cannot see this I feel sorry for you.

I want to leave this profession, but I am close to tenure. Whatever that may be worth going forward.
Just got tenure this year. Starting to really question the years of struggle to reach this accomplishment. What does it even matter anymore? I’m the wrong sex and race. There’s no protection.
^If you are at a public university, your First Amendment rights are fully intact. There was a story today about a professor at a UNC branch campus with a change.org petition calling for his resignation. University admitted it can't do anything.
Private universities are a different matter, although they are certainly free to embrace free speech, as the U. of Chicago has.
