The argument over minumum wage, whether there should be one and how to set it, has been raging for perhaps a century or more. But all sides have good points (see http://makeyourcase.org/topic/national-governments-should-set-a-minimum-wage-that-is-enough-for-a-family-to-live-on ), so we should figure out which concerns are legit, and how to solve as many of the problems as possible logically, without all the rhetoric.

Minimum wage is such a dumb policy. Libs should stop being obsessed with such an old concept. Drop the minimum wage and implement a minimum income policy. Let those who want to work at a given price X. Let business owners define how much they are willing to pay for labour. Let the market do its job. At the same time, poverty would be greatly reduced as all low income earners would receive a basic income that would let them live with dignity. No mistery here. Make sure METRs are somehow smooth to avoid bunching at kinks. So much easier and I can see libs and reps somehow agreeing here.

Capitalism is also about labor. Not just capital. Even though Capitalism has the word capital in it. LOL
Businesses maximize utility by using the political system. So can labor. A new type of CEO will succeed, one that treats employees better. That's just natural Capitalism
