Compared to cows and pigs, even a very large dog is very small.

I'm not saying that eating cow is right but it's not difficult to see that dogs and cows have very different levels of understanding of the world. It's not just a random event that humans love dogs as pets instead of other cute furry animals.

But why not eat them? People rear some cows for milk and some for meat.
A chinabro in our cohort that was always strapped for cash used to "adopt" dogs from the local shelter, then hand them over to his butcher cousin for some free filets.
When I "adopted" a rescue, he cost me several hundred dollars in fees and shots and so forth. Unless I could have sold him for $15 a lb, it would have been a money losing proposition.
But I love my dog and will not eat him. Or allow you to eat him.
