   because if you are not at least fourth gen local and/or uber rich and/or uber talented and white, you are effectively worse than the pets the swiss

   Isn't having a few million € and speaking the local language* enough to have a decent life in Switzerland?
   *= Hochdeutsch + Swiss German, if you live in the German part (?)

   The previous poster said uber rich.
   I'm not saying that having a few millions is easy.
   But I wonder about this:
   if you do indeed have a few millions and move there, assuming no problems with the language, what's your life like?

   I wonder this too. I am here as a student now, and life seems like it could be nice, albeit somewhat uneventful compared to places like londonistan.

   Totalitarian state, imposing lockdowns and vaccinations. No thanks. Switzerland did not have a full lockdown; only restaurants and nonessential stores were ordered to close but there were no restrictions on individual liberties such as leaving home.

   As to why the Swiss often go abroad, I suppose it comes down to 1) they can afford 2) the size of the country is ultimately limiting in terms of what can be seen, done, etc. so they need to go abroad. In a country such as the USA a lifetime would not be enough to see it all.

   Most people don't give so much importance to "seeking it all". Being in the middle of Europe, traveling for the weekend to Spain, or whatever, isn't really hard or expensive.

   I know several Swiss who live abroad (in my home country). Some of them do so because life in Switzerland is so expensive, and with the money they have they can live like kings almost anywhere else. This includes people of both lower and middle class (by Swiss standards).

   Some others, fell in love with foreigners, and moved to their partner's home country.
