You have a total idiot not to be rich as a boomer. As long as you put a little money in the market, you're basically rich now. Not to mention all the corporate perks you get for knowing how to read and do basic math.

A baby boomer in 1970 was basically a 20-something. Most of them would not have this kind of money to put into S&P 500. As correctly mentioned, 60 grand was a lot of money in 1970. Having said that, their generation has clearly fared well, sans those who died in the Vietnam war.
They also popularized rock-n-roll, and also normalized drug consumption and promiscuous sex. However, after having done all of the that, they strangely went on to elect Reagan.
