I can't take it anymore.
I'm tired of hearing about banks failing and the Fed. Exhausted from hearing about Putin and Ukraine and China and Turnip and inflation and COVID and the debt ceiling. Just get me out of this already.
None of my work matters. Why do I even bother living? Why should I put more people into this world that's doomed to self-destruct?
Turn off the media, reduce the noise, turn off the lights. Sleep early, get up early, eat what is in season, work with your hands, your mind, your body.
Hedonism won't make you happy. Ancient civilizations knew this. You even see this is things like Pinocchio's Pleasure Island, where pursuing nothing but hedonism eventually turns you into an animal. Humans need a life with purpose or they'll suffer a hell on earth.
Work hard and work toward a goal, find someone you love who loves you back, live for someone other than yourself (preferably children). Live in a place with open space that isn't an urban rat maze with masses of miserable humanity pressing in on you from all sides. Spend time in nature liberally. Read the classics, stoics, etc. And like Solomon, fear God and keep his command.
Turning off the noise isn't prudent when the noise is important. Ignoring the societal c0llapse all around us is like Nero fiddling while Rome bvrned.
