Can we choose the internship duration from 8-12 weeks or will that depend on the project we're working on?
IMF 2023 Fund Internship Program

May I kindly ask offer-holders if they can check with whoever contacted them if there is some HR contact or similar where we can write to confirm we were rejected? Just to double check before I accept an offer I actually have (the deadline is this week). Thanks!

Any advice to find accommodation for the 3month internship?
If you want to stay near the IMF building then Adams Morgan, Foggy bottoms, GWU area, Dupont Circle are the best locations. There are many FB pages as well where you can find sublets in DC (just beware of any scams).

Rough timeline:
- application closure to mid-Feb: applications screening
- mid-Feb to early March: long-listed candidates sent to departments
- March: departments submitting their decisions/rankings of candidates to HR
- some decide to contact candidates
- some ask for interview and organise it until the end of month
- some make a decision solely looking at CV
- until the end of March/early April: conditional offers sent to selected candidates
- April to May: final offers sent -

I'm an applicant myself and I still didn't hear from them. This timeline is what I found out from earlier interns as I was trying to figure out if I'm out or there is still some chance. I will wait until the end of March though I'm not putting much faith.

Any news on the formal contract/ offer letters? When will the HR send them?
From last year's participants, it usually takes a few weeks from pre-selection offer to formal contract. They waited quite a while last year as well. So I almost stop thinking about it. Just see whenever they want to send it.

Don't cite me on this. My understanding is that if you work for the first wave (there are two starting dates), you should definitely receive a formal offer now. If not, it will come later. There is a case where ppl decline when they receive a pre-selection email so the supervisor moves on to the second candidate, that is why they will contact you directly and ask HR to proceed. It is not so common but there is someone who receives a late offer at the end of April when someone does not want to proceed anymore.

Do you know what the two starting dates are?

If you did not receive that info, I don't want to disclose
