Anyone submitted material and still didn’t hear from them?
Yes, you’re not alone. Is there hope?
Mine was only 30 mins. The interviewers were cold; almost no feedback/comments to my answers. It was creepy and tense. My preliminary interview was more relaxed with back and forth discussion. Very unlucky with panel, sadly.
50 min of Panel Interview with a lot of follow up question on each questions. That was a hell of an interview. Good luck to everyone !

This annual thread is truly a thing to behold. Every year people complain that they only hire women and minorities but then if you check the EP cohorts are still mostly men, mostly white, and mostly from HRM or upper MRM. And then there’s the pack of bitter bros who have nothing better to do all day that come here and tell everybody that the imf sucks and that policy sucks as if they found any joy in telling others what career path they must follow. Cracks me up every time
I would really love to know what problems you are experiencing in real life that makes you so toxic. Obviously you are not even interviewing this year and just trolling around.
I really appreciate the fact that we can have information about what’s going on as the market clears itself through EJMR, but seriously, a lot of people here are just so toxic for no reason. Either this, or, as someone just pointed out, those coming here to point out what a crappy institution IMF is or that people would only get in if they are women or minorities. Did they apply and not get in in the past and have some sort of complex?
Mine was good. I told them they were a bunch of fu ctards who did not even know hw to take a FOC and they said 'true that'

Wasn't the preliminary hiervenue? How could you have back and forth?
It was live interview in my case, not (recorded) hirevue.

What are you saying? Quote from the same document “ Over the last 5 years, women accounted, on average, for 75 percent of hires
in grades A1–A8, and approximately 63 percent of contractual Support (S) employees (Figure 9). This reflects the fact that female applicants tend to domi- nate assistant roles and that many of these positions are staffed through initial contractual appointments.”
Even for EP positions, the women account for roughly 45% last year. And if you account for number of men/women doing macro and applying for EP positions, you’d see how big of an advantage women have in the EP hiring.
I’ve nothing against increasing diversity but at least don’t deny it. Women are being compensated for the generation of discrimination against them but it’s happening. So for please God’s sake, DON’T DENY IT!

Ah, I see thank you for the response. May I ask whether you are region USA or not?
I wouldn't use support positions (A1 to A8) like secretaries as an example for them pushing for more women. These positions have traditionally been dominated by women anyway. In the EP you quote 45% women. That's still less than half. I'm not saying they're not trying, as in fact they should, to hire more women than they did in the past. I'm saying if you read this thread it seems like people complain that women have it handed to them and if you're male it's impossible to get in. Every year the same rant. And it's just not true. Maybe it's just less likely than when they hired 90% men and that stings some people. This is not a bad thing in my opinion

Ability is normally distributed, opportunity is not.
Perhaps the average female PhD candidate in economics has had to work twice as hard to be recognized and have the same opportunities in the discipline as her male counterparts. She has had to get better grades/test scores/publications just to be taken seriously on par with her male peers.
Perhaps the average female candidate who has made it to the final stages of the EP selection process is more prepared to demonstrate her abilities because she has spent her entire academic career having to prove herself, or fight that much harder for her place.
Perhaps we are extremely used to being told that the only reason we have our position is because of 'diversity policies' and not because we've earned it, so you trying to discredit the achievements of female candidates who have earned their spot doesn't mean much to us.
