Last year they had more than 50% of rejections, so this year they wanted to have a large pool of candidates to select from.
Are they expanding the cohort size given that 200 were interviewed rather than 100 in past years?
how are they going to rank so many candidates?Any insiders on what the plan is?
panel interview first (you need to get at least A-), JMP (at least B+), then the rest. I guess you have extra points if you did the internship
There is no way you get B+ in JMP and survive the committee review unless you came from a very small country. Both paper and panel have to be A- at least. And given they interviewed 200 this year, unless they decided to expand the cohort, having an A- is very risky as well this year I think...
Yes.Do they really give offers to people who did not do very well in the process just because of their nationality?
What are the jackpot nationalities?
Already answered:
“ Is it true that more offers will be given to EM and Asian people to increase EM representation? So if you are YT you are out?
Not true, they try to maintain diversity but all else equal, there will be some preference for women and those from under-represented regions (URRs) as there are targets for these groups. Currently the Fund has three URRs: Africa (Sub-Saharan), East Asia (ASEAN+3), and Middle East and North Africa+ (MENA+).”
