   I cant speak for all firms, but business in my firm is back to normal across almost all practices. ljl at "econ consulting struggling more now than ever", that can't be further from the truth in litigation.
   Non-litigation consulting is probably struggling though since Fortune500 has not resumed all non-essential expenditures.

   They are not confirming. They hope it's not pushed further. We don't know when they will start. We know econ consulting struggling now more than ever.
   

   The volume is back. The rate is not. We are taking cases with much smaller budgets. Partners are still forgoing their bonuses this year.

   how can they make ends meet with only 500K?

   Yeah, plenty of casework here we just haven’t had the capacity to train new hires, which takes up to 6 months. I do think we have significantly less spots for next years cohort.

   Same. It's hard to train on remote. Probably will hire a couple rather than 10, which is the normal year.

   People forget there is substantial heterogeneity in consulting. Even within a firm, if your project is understaffed with a bad manager or bad client then it is miserable. But if you have plenty to staff and a decent client its actually a goldmine in terms of effort vs pay.

    People forget there is substantial heterogeneity in consulting. Even within a firm, if your project is understaffed with a bad manager or bad client then it is miserable. But if you have plenty to staff and a decent client its actually a goldmine in terms of effort vs pay.

    I don't like this job. Every other weekend I am on call for the past 2 years. Was trying to move to tech before COVID but didn't work.

    CR bro here. All-nighters definitely happen, but are pretty rare. I've seen one, and it was a first for all the analysts involved, some of whom had been at the firm 4-5 years. I think you should assume that the horror stories on here are real, or at least representative of things that can happen, but that they are 1 per 1-2 year type events. Something to think about if you're considering consulting.
