As cases are rising, do you know anything new about possible delays?
Is litigation consulting next?

Because they can. Supply/demand. Also, a 6mo delay under the circumstances will not cause Ny reputational harm to job seekers. Especially given the upcoming job market season.
Wondering why firms like AG, CR, etc. have not offered stipends for delays >6 months like strategy firms (MBB, etc.)...not sure if folks have info on this.

I'd imagine top shops like AG/CR have enough money to offer at least small stipends for their incoming analyst/associate class. But I agree about the lack of harm with the delay given the circumstances.

Having the money is different than needing to spend the money. It's not a liquidity problem. If you were a partner of these firms, why would you cut your own pay and that of your existing staff to pay extra to an incoming associate who in all likelihood will leave within a couple years regardless? It's likely much better to keep full utilization and give continuing staff bigger bonuses.

Don't know about AG/CR but Brattle paid signing bonuses (several month's salary) to all new employees months in advance. Also the firms are happy if people decide not to matriculate and find employment elsewhere as they will be overstaffed with the decreased turnover of undergrads this year

Did these firms give return offers for current summer associates?
This is the real interesting question. If they gave return offers that is a sign of high confidence in their ability to resume normal operations by next summer. Any summer interns have insight?
Personally I'd be shocked given new hires are starting in 2021, and there is no turnover at the moment. Seems really foolish but a important signal.
My guess is they might give some conditional offers "we really like you and will hire you given the appropriate circumstances, but we can't give guarantees at the moment"

Insider at one of these firms. We have started our new batch of analysts much sooner than anticipated given workload overall has remained fairly steady (with some practices experiencing significant upticks, in fact). I don't know about PhDs, but I suspect they may be starting soon as well.
Hang in there as you try to ride this out - the industry overall is in very good shape, and as we begin to make hiring plans for next year, I see no reason why we would not hire as aggressively as in previous years (given the amount of workload we have and project to have). I hope things work out on your end soon.
Nera and CRA have job postings on JOE. Did they start their new hires yet or did they also delay start dates?
