In finance, MS publication = rejected by all top 3 journals
Is Management Science considered an A journal for finance?

MS is closer to top 3 (JF, JFE, RFS) than it is to JFQA. Explanation:
1. MS, along with JFQA, is counted as an A- for tenure purposes. This said, you usually only get 1 A- to count at HRM/MRM places. MS is an exception at some of these schools, which often count more than 1 MS (but not more than 1 JFQA).
2. Deans love MS (which is probably why some MRM/HRM schools will count more than 1 of them for tenure). I don't know why deans have such an obsession for "interdisciplinary" research, but that's just the way it is.
3. Finance papers (just the finance ones) published in MS are generally cited more than papers published in JFQA.

MS < Top 3, yes. But there is a lot of noise in the process. So quite a few crappy papers get published in top 3 and quite a few good papers get 3 bad draws.
When I look at MS Finance vs JFE, they both have about the same ratio of awful vs decent papers.totally agree
JF >= RFS > JFE >= MS
seems to me it's getting more and more like this: distance between JFE and MS is smaller than distance between RFS and JFE nowaday.
