Is operations research more about management or engineering or math nowadays?

Take a look at the journals. It is broad and diverse. Methodical papers (mathematical optimization, simulation, games), applied papers (from logistics to medicine). Authors are most often computer scientists, mathematicians, engineers, economists. A truly exciting field. I like being to OR conferences.

It is probably the healthiest field in STEM by a substantial margin.
CS and Statistics >
No. Certainly not stats. Maybe CS, though it's debatable. A lot of CS research is mediocre with very low shelf life.
and OR isn't even remotely related to machine learning. Optimization in OR is cute compared to large scale optimization in CS
