Why do so many persons dislike NUS?
Is there racism at NUS Business School?

People speaking Chinese in front of non-Chinese speakers happens a lot in Singapore, and it's annoying af. I don't think it's so much racism but more inconsiderate behavior by the dominant majority.
The student asking an Indian why she doesn't speak Chinese...he's just a supreme moron. In Singapore, no one expects a person of a particular race to speak a different race's language.People who speak English in England is inconsiderate af. Extremely disrepectful behavior from the dominant majority.

A friend there told me that search committees (usually consisted of Chinese male) blatantly discriminate. They identify candidates based on names, so plus if Chinese male. The next best category apparently is to be a white person (usually male) married to an Asian (female). But if you are some white guy trying out Asia for fun with no local connections, good luck. You are likely out of the game.

Eurobro here. I find it pretty reasonable that a place -unless recruiting for a temporary position with no intention of renewals- gives preference to those with some local connections as a proof of their serious intention of not moving away after a couple of years.

^ The thing is, all that is quite pointless. For every 10 people that come to NUS, at least 6 or 7 leave within the first 3-4 years, and another 2 would fail tenure. Basically, there is a less than 10% chance of making it to tenure and nobody knows who that is going to be. So the assumption that some Chinese bro or a white person with Asian wife will be more likely to stay is totally groundless.

Uh why is an Indian girl in Singapore in the first place? If you don’t want to be treated like an outsider then don’t move to someone else’s country where you are an obvious outsider
Also Tamils are racist and ethnocentric as hell, pribabyk even more so than the Chinese. So it’s hard to feel much sympathy for her whining.
