Small field = small pool of suitable candidates willing to move to edge of civilization
Small pool only because of the narrow criteria. They will regret this; serious reputation damage for the department as a whole. They hired someone who has been exposed as a fraud AFTER the exposure. Better to leave the position unfilled.
