Nothing is going to come of any of this, just like it hasn’t in virtually all of the high profile cases to date. Much of what’s been complained about on Twitter either isn’t against the rules, can’t be proven, or falls outside the relevant jurisdictions.
University professors have right, far more than most other employees. And the people on investigating committees understand that. A little bad press that blows over in a few days isn’t worth protracted litigation for wrongful termination.Houser then actually in light of this post may have been harmed. He was kicked out of his association (or just off board ?) and jebo.
If the whole attitude is this btw and it’s downplayed, then I’m absolutely never working with a female.
Dan was not kicked out of the ESA or off the boards of its journals; he stepped down, denying the allegations. I don't know what happened at JEBO.
Both ESA and AEA have issued statements re-affirming in general terms that misbehavior will not be tolerated. I assume there is a lot of discussion going on in both places and those discussions will involve legal advice and fact-finding, as it should.
