"The third author states that the original data and code that produced the published results were lost. The first and second author were not notified of the loss of the original data and code at the time it occurred and had no prior knowledge of the issues with the replication data and code provided to the journal."
So convenient to lose the original data!

Only a M0r0n would see the system working and claim it is a joke.
The entire finance academy is a LAUGHINGSTOCK.
Working? They were awarded the Brattle Group Distinguished Paper Prize for a fraudulent paper. They said they LOST the code. Lies upon lies. How many other papers are total frauds and not caught???

Maybe we should gather the names associated with fraudulent papers, and compile a database of their other papers. In PhD courses, we could randomly assign some papers for students to replicate as an exercise. It would be an effective way to teach students about professional norms.

Awards are usually given before a paper is accepted.
Was this given after the publication?
Not that you’d know how it works to win a prize, dear @spi€ bro.
The only joke is the “lost code”. For which their credibility will be destroyed.

"The authors deeply regret the damage this caused to the journal and the scholarly community."
Yeah, right! They regret GETTING CAUGHT. They accepted a prestigious award for their fraud. They have the nerve to say they LOST their homework. Amazing.
The question whether their institutions (Duke and HEC Paris) will discipline these fraudsters or protect as usual.
