He did his undergrad at MIT (which means he got almost perfect score on TOEFL/SAT) and publishes two top papers with three top R&Rs. And you think he cant't communicate in English because of a small typo???
He got into MIT because he could do math, like any Chinese, Russian, Indian or Eastern European. He didn't get into MIT because of his TOEFL score. In fact, I bet his Toefl was far from perfect. That said, his English is fine, but he needs professional editorial help.

I’m going to be frank: 1) I’m a bit drunk right now. 2) I honestly am the definition of a mediocre student who somehow got by. I had a class rank of 40/550 in high school. Went to a barely half decent party state school and ended with a 3.7 gpa - B+ real analysis A- complex analysis. Great reg monkey tho and got a good RA gig with some connections. Barely made it through micro core once I somehow used those connections to get into grad school. Reg’d hard enough to get a job I’m happy with. I’m efficient af but also mediocre af.
This is just being unnecessarily sarcastic. We all know this record is not mediocre. It's very good and you should be proud, I you you're humble bragging though.
