Chen Lian is a true scholar, outstandingly intelligent, and far ahead of his contemporaries in terms of methodological insight and understanding of economics. I do not think I have met anyone who enjoys such an absolute respect by his peers once anyone gets to know him. His papers are truly influential and complete, and you cannot find such a combination of insights about theory, falsification of theory, and how to obtain empirical evidence by others so easily. Chen Lian is a top of the top researcher, and a very solid personality, a true example of integrity. For a list of his discoveries, you should be really reading his papers.

This thread and all other threads that obsess with specific JMCs end up being toxic. As if this is not enough of a stressful time for JMCs! Whoever thinks that they are helping JMCs by labeling them as stars on EJMR has not spent enough time here. Moreover, the JMCs who are doing poorly don't need extra shaming and ridiculing - they have it hard already.
