Thanks 2695 - but to clarify. Are these job listings or jobs? Some listings included more than one position.
JOE numbers: Time-Series Data (2009-2014)

no, apparently only works until 2009
Click on an older JOE (from 2012). Look at the internet address for it. Replace 12 for 03, 04, etc and you can find it for each month.
frankly, what about pre-crisis? that should be the most interesting statistic.
does anyone remember the # JOE in 2003--2006? -
2013 graduates have basically no excuse for their s**t performance. As suspected, 08/09 entering classes just sucked in input quality.
Looking forward to seeing the recession cohorts continue to get fiecked. Most of them will end up back in industry where they belonged in the first place.
Yep, I suspect the same thing. And given that I am one of the underplaced candidates from the 09 market, who is going back on the market this year, I also very much hope this this true.

If you don't mind, sir, how many pubs do U have?
I am one of the "underplaced candidates" 09 market, and would like to give the market a try. However, I am not quite sure about my research productivity as I have only 5 pubs so far and few other tings in the pipeline.Yep, I suspect the same thing. I feel I was underplaced in 2011. I graduated in May 2012 an currently have 2 top 40 publications. I want a tenure track job at a non-ranked school. I don't care whether or not they have a PhD or masters program.

4 pubs. No top 5, but AA and A publications. 4 submitted, 1 R&R. Other stuff in pipeline. I am currently at a place where during the semester teaching & admin. is a full time job (literally close to 40 hrs a week). I may even be able to get tenure here with what I have published thus far. Hope people understand that my research record is strong given the inherent limitations to my current position. I have no illusion about getting a top50 placement, but a position with a 2/2 teaching load, little committee work, and some OK research and travel money would be a big improvement.

It is really hard to move to place that you "deserve" a few years out, you need to be better than the average person at the new place you are applying to. If you are just average or close to it, it is my experience that they will just take a risk with a new hire.
