However, many top scholars have done some referring to JEF, but few of them did JCF/JBF.

JMCB=JFI>JCF>=JBF=>JEF
JEF is about the same as JBF and JFI, they are top field finance journals. FM is sort of partisan journal similar to FAJ (how institutions count FM and FAJ is idiosyncratic), and JMCB is a better journal as it is considered sort of general interest.
Probably it is best if one sends first to JMCB, and then goes down to JBF, JEF and JFI. One should send to FM and FAJ only in special circumstances (say editor invitation or sth.) -
I reviewed a paper for JEF. I Googled the paper and turns out that it's from someone that I don't like. Rejected it right away. Lol. I didn't even give like a referee report. I just wrote the article does fit the scopus of the journal.
Besides that, it's a good journal.
