Even industry jobs requiring PhD now have hundreds of applicants. The job market is crazy right now. Everywhere I apply, it seems there is always a better applicant. I thought economists were supposed to be highly in demand in industry? I guess not...

Econ PhD specifically trains you to conduct academic research. If industry means economic consulting, you’re prepared enough. If industry means working for a major Corp, you need to ‘reframe’ all your skills and learn how to add value to the org. -
