And am leaving this island forever.
When I started, I though HateUKBro was over the top, nothing could be that bad. But after being here, I could see it was all true and more. From the endless meetings, the hyper-obsession with the NSS and the "student experience," the squeezing of REF points out of staff with absolutely no research support, the massive teaching loads, even for a full Professor, and the refusal to even consider pay progressions, the UK uni system is broken.
Couple that with dilapidated infrastructure which costs far too much, terrible classism and racism even as they all claim to be woke, terrible food, worse weather, and this place was an absolute disaster from the get go.
I've had some great days in my life - receiving my PhD, having a piece in the Wall Street Journal, marrying my wife, my child being born... today is up in the pantheon of those days.
Good bye - and remember, you can't spell sucks without UK.
