Kasy and Sautmann Econometrica 2021 proven wrong

Not to defend the authors or the editor, but the root cause of this problem has in no small part to do with how poorly taught most stats courses are nowadays, even at top schools like Harvard, Yale, Stanford. Instructors phone it in, and make no effort to bridge the huge gap from undergrad to grad courses. Students are basically left to fend for themselves and figure out how to write theorems and proofs, so they fake it 'til they make it. They're not building on a solid, rigorous foundation. They just try to imitate what they see in journals.

you're defending these professors / instructors as if they're students, not professors / instructors themselves. these professors in question had been out of school for 10 years when this publication ran. are we really going to blame whoever taught them in 2009?

Trying to deflect blame?
