this is crazy. you do a predoc to figure out whether a phd is what you want to do. and frankly, a phd in econ is just not a good for many people. i would expect 50% of predocs to have figured out that they had better things to do with their lives -- like law school, data science, mba, startup. jeez, how about some self reflection folks instead of just checking the boxes?
