Wait AP at U of I is a bad placement? I’m now convinced that EJMR is full of jealous LRMs who failed the market
Nah, we are just “a little” surprised is all.
The ag econ department is not the econ department, right?
All these land grant departments have this division. I know at Penn State the ag econ department has like, twice the teaching obligation and all these community outreach/service things to do.
Ag econ is definitely not econ.
Exactly what the difference means varies a lot from school to school. At many (but not all), ag econ has a lighter teaching load. And the ag econ departments all have to do lots of community outreach stuff ("extension"), but in some departments everyone has to do some extension work, while other departments make a distinction between research faculty (no extension duties) and extension faculty (lots of extension duties, and much lower research expectations). I don't know how it works at UIUC.
