Kirk, just require people to register with a Gmail or yahoo type acct. That way we can be anonymous but still be registered, and it will make it harder for trolls to comment because they would have to get email accts. Then people will take more advantage of the other features of the site.
I applaud this change.
Besides egregious racism and sexism, most posts about race and gender seem to fall into one of two categories:
1. Serious posts.
2. Posts that pretend to be serious as an excuse to be racist or sexist.
Part of why it is hard to have serious discussions of race and gender issues here is the large number of posts in the second category that always appear on any race/gender related thread. I would like to think these are mostly not economists. Anyone familiar with signaling games should be able to figure out how to avoid having a post of the first category mistaken for a post of the second category.

The IP is stored on a separate banned table. This table will be checked when you post again.
Who cares if it’s in a separate lookup table. It still means it’s archived even if it was scooped up by accident. That’s messed up, especially since it sounds like it is only removed if appealed.

If you believe what Kirk is saying, it is your fault, you have not spent enough time to learn of the character.
Kirk is tracking IPs. Kirk does NOT have the choice not to track IPs.
The government wants to know whether on any public platform there are no recruiters for terrorist organisations, and people inciting hatred and violence.
