LACs outside of the top 10 but still in the "elite" top 40ish can pay in the mid to high 90s as well, some with very ample research support. But once you get out of the top 10 there starts to be pretty high variance based on both cost of living and a number of institutional factors.
Don’t want to start an entire thread on this topic, but: what is the maximum salary for a fresh AP hired by an LAC?

^ Someone earlier said that their offer was turned down.
As a search chair myself, the usual cause of a search failing is that all acceptable candidates to the committee either reject the offer or take another job while waiting for other candidates to make decisions.
The other cause is having the funding for the position withdrawn before you fill it.
