Seems like he is looking at UVa, not Minn Fed.
Leeper leaving Indiana University

This guy Leeper never give any credit to Tao Zha
Eric Leeper is not the douchebag you think he is. He is superbly humble.
Take a look at his response to this question in a recent interview:
EF: Which economists have influenced you the most?
Leeper: That's a long list. Everybody has been influenced by Milton Friedman. I think I've been more influenced by James Tobin. His view about things is more nuanced but also more complicated, which is probably why it didn't catch on as much as Friedman's did. Chris Sims was my adviser; he obviously had a lot of influence on my thinking, and so did Neil Wallace and Tom Sargent. Those faculty members at Minnesota taught me the importance of coherent theory that is tightly linked to data.
A bunch of co-authors have influenced me. My first co-author was David Gordon, and he taught me price theory. Jon Faust has been influential because he's very eclectic in his thinking and it encourages me to step out of models, which is scary. The list of co-authors goes on: Campbell Leith taught me a lot about optimal policy. Troy Davig taught me about Markov switching. My colleague Todd Walker has taught me a lot about estimating DSGE models. Huixin Bi taught me about fiscal limits. So a lot of influences. Maybe that's why I'm so confused. -
If he can receive a raise, don't you think it means he was underpaid, and he does worth the raise??? Or you are saying the deans who gave him the raise were idiots? people choose the better deal, the deal got rejected meant the deal is not good enough; if one who cannot get a better deal simply means that you are not good enough. (Shrug) relax, it doesn't do you any good bad mouthing your colleagues.
Ok folks, I know that UVA people will be reading this thread (perhaps one revived it for that particular reason). Leeper is perhaps the most conning person you'll encounter. He's smart and all, but he has priced himself out of the market with all the offers he has generated in the past 15 years (hear earns roughly 360K right now at IU). Every time, it's the same history, knowingly or not, some decent departments have played his game and given him an offer (in the UT-Austin case he forced them to give one to Walker), he then runs to whoever is the Dean at the time at IU and demands all these things (and for some reason there are given to him), he then goes back to the department that gave him an offer and says that his wife, kids, of whatnot don't want to move, etc., etc., etc. Over half his current colleagues will be happy to see him leave, but they know he won't. My advise, save yourself the drama, take the 400K you're planning to spend on him and perhaps the 240K you plan to spent on walker and spend it on somebody who still cares about writing good papers, train and mentor students and think of the well-being of the department instead of himself.

Your logic is weird. So if someone kept bad mouthing you to an extend that it stains your reputation with dirty lies, you will not respond forever? How about someone insult you using fabricated stuff? (And your real name). I am not sure what you guys were talking about, Leeper is surprisingly nice and humble in person. I wish he was my mentor, the efforts and supports he offers his students are so much more than my advisors.
The fact the Leeper is answering the accusations in this thread shows the accusations are true indeed.

I am one of the young people that had the hornour to gain valuable honest advises from him. And I am friend with other young people in the department and also some of his previous students. He is the opposite of mean, you dispensable lair. The fact that you are anonymously speaking ill fake stuff shows that you are the one who is false and less than disingenuous. Anyone in doubt should talk to the ' young people'. And, no one has the right to judge till you actually see the fact. Definelty don't listen to this d-bad (below)
Walker: Love him.
Leeper: One of the only people I dislike in the profession. He is false, disingenuous, mean to young people.
I hope UVA did not hire him or that's the end of them.
