Let's get back to the original topic. Is Leeper leaving or not?
Leeper leaving Indiana University
-
Leeper is grossly underplaced at IU and has been very productive these last few years. He can be problematic as a person, though, and this is what has kept good places from hiring him. It would be good for austin if they really are trying to hire him and personalities like Leeper would not be out of place there.

Like that how? He's funny? What's his problem?
^ But this is why I think hiring Leeper is a bad thing. He doesn't always play well with others. If you want to rebuild a department that had serious infighting, I don't know why you would go out and target a guy like that.

Because if you are being bullied by some assholes, you bring a larger asshole to balance things up, kid.

So, nobody knows if Leeper is actually going to Austin or not? By the way, I was told Leeper is a nice person. I am not sure why some people are saying he is an asshole.
I've never met Leeper. I was just going based on what other people here said. But almost every highly successful macroeconomist I've ever met is an asshole, and I'm wondering why.

funny! you made me smile!
Both econometricas are very short notes. So are most of the AERs and one of the JPEs is some weird shit I cannot tell what it is. So he may have some pubs (his PhD is 28 years ago, so...).
I am sure he has heard of me. I am a tenured prof at a top 10 school with *real* top publications.
Yep. Still, I never heard of him and I am not that far away in terms of what I am doing.
I think that says more about you than him. He has 2 econometricas, 4 AERs, 2 JPEs, etc etc etc. -
If you are in a related field and haven't heard of him then you really are a moron.

Leeper and Walker would be poor replacements for Dean Corbae, Ken Hendricks and Russ Cooper. Leeper only has 2 top-5 publications and one has already been discredited (http://ideas.repec.org/a/aea/aecrev/v100y2010i1p608-17.html). Based on Walker's cv, he is just Leeper's RA.
