I think it's pretty unlikely for an educated Indian man to be single by 40 unless divorced or by choice. The arranged marriage market is still viable, and you can basically filter on educated women who place a higher priority on family and culture (as well as religion).
As someone who has spent quite a bit of time in the NYC dating market. The issue is that most women won't realize that their dating value declines exponentially from, say, 30-37, with a very fast decay from 33-37.
By 37, most men would consider it game over for a woman to start a family, it will take some dating time (at least a year or two) before most (sane) men want to commit to having a child, and by that time her fertility is close 0. Men who want a family, even if they are in their 40s, are unlikely to seriously consider dating women above 37 (even if she was attractive in her 20s).
In other words, a women who used to attract lots of attention from attractive men in her 20s must lower her expectations quickly by the time she enters her 30s, if she wants a serious relationship and family. My experience is, however, that NYC women who used to be, say, a 7 at 25 are still hunting 7+ men (i.e., she has not lowered her standards). Arrogance is a prominent feature amongst these professional women in their 30s who used to be "okay" attractive. They still believe they are highly desirable because they are managers, well educated, make six figures, and USED to be 7+ in their 20s. The vast majority of men, however, do not care for any of their professional achievements and assess women based on her ability to be a caring mother/wife and her attractiveness (ability to give birth, which is now at a low level).
In reality, a 35 year old women who used to be a 7 in her 20s is now closer to 3-5 (depending on how well she has taken care of herself), and she must consider men she never wanted to date in her prime. However, in NYC, the 30+ women are still chasing the 7+ men and swipe left on all average men that would actually consider a serious relationship with them. As a result, they end up with a bunch of one night stands with attactive men that pump and dump them, and here we are with thousands of miserable, childness women in their 30s.
The tragedy of leftover women is that the more time goes by and the more they age to supposedly finally meet their perfect prince charming, the less attractive they become to all men, and the less they will get prince charming. By calling it a tragedy, you are assuming that being alone is the worst possible outcome. The truth you are avoiding is that, by revealed preference, they would rather be alone than with a man like you.
So whenever you complain about this, remember: to get women, you just need to get yourself to a point in which living with you is not worse than living alone.
