What points would you want me to write about?
Let's say I was Karl, and I was writing an article about EconTwitter doxing EJMR

What points would you want me to write about?
I'd start by pointing out that you're an unemployable, dysfunctional, 30yr old cringe French Candadian dooshbag who spends 24/7 MAGUH-Iarping on Twitter from his mom's basement in Ottawa.
Then I'd move on to explaining that "geolocating" a few mentaIly ill shjtposters who use a VPN to churn out 95% of the posts on EJMR isn't the same as "doxing".

I find the parallelism between FE and Karl to be quite interesting…failures in conventional terms, and cursed to live in godforsaken lands (New Haven/Ottawa)…with artfully constructed media personae that always promise, but never deliver.
One earned a PhD in economics and gets paid a full time salary as a working academic.
The other is an unemployable and dysfunctional 30yr old living in mom's basement, who relies one welfare to stay alive.
How are they both failures in conventional terms?

That even by their standards, innocent people are being harmed
1. The abstract suggests that they are going to release frequencies of access that will lum in benign users with the most toxic, and those trying to combat toxic posts with the most toxic posts. Because of this, we have multiple people on here who have not done anything wrong who are having mental health crisis. Florian caused that.
2. Christakis says they are going after SJMR too. That site has been overrun by a stalker who targets his ex (a sociologist) and people in her network.
The site is mostly him arguing with people trying to stop him. When they release the SJMR’s data, they are about to give the locations of a bunch of anti-racist, anti-sexist sociologists into the hands of a racist, sexist stalker with a proven track record of causing harm. Philip Cohen and Dan hirschman can vouch.

Seems like a fair question.

FE may get paid slightly more at the moment, but the long-term employability of either is in doubt. Plus, Karl is 6’4.

The only "danger" here is that they have decided to take a chance and not submit their study to an IRB, because no IRB would allow them to harm human subjects through a doxxing.
This is especially true since whatever method they're using must have some margin for error, which means some subjects could be falsely linked to inflammatory statements.
My advice to Karl would be to get in touch with the Yale and NBER IRBs and find out what he is entitled to know about the study as a possible study subject.

My advice to you would be to get help for your mentaI rtardation.
IRB information is not made publicly available, and they certainly won’t give any information to a racist inceI French Canadian MAGUH-Iarping dooshbag to gurgle about on his tardstack.

Well, you certainly have a way with words and you are a charmer for sure!
That said, I do believe that IRBs will allow study subjects to opt out. Thus, if a user of this forum were to write to the Yale and NBER IRBs, identify themselves as a potential study subject, screenshot the abstract and the tweets about identifying individuals, that person could request an opt-out.
At that point, the IRB would have to either indicate that their information would not be used in the study (which would indicate that personal identification was possible) or indicate that they couldn't guarantee the person wouldn't be included (in which case, personal identification is probably not possible).
Either way, I don't see much downside to Chris making a polite inquiry along these lines if he is willing. Not sure why anyone should object to that...

The IRB committee does not participate in, or run the studies themselves. They do not deal with subjects in those studies.
Adhering the the IRB protocol is the investigators' responsibility. If they have an approved IRP protocol that allows anonymous rtards on the internet to voluntarily drop out of their study, then Ederer and his colleagues would be the ones to ask.
Good grief you people are clueless.

The IRB is responsible for ensuring compliance as well, if there is reason to believe the investigators are not following the protocol. The tweets about identifying individuals is at least suggestive of that and would likely be cause for concern for an IRB.
It’s also possible the investigators have bypassed the IRB. If so, contacting the IRB will prompt a review.
